The lovely City of Nelson has a population of just under 10,000 people and rests on the shores of beautiful Kootenay Lake nestled between the Selkirk Mountains. The City of Nelson committed to the restoration of its many heritage buildings and is able to boast of an authentic turn-of-the-century atmosphere.

Nelson is recognized for top notch shopping, recreation and fantastic dining with a rich art and culture community to match. Nelsonīs back country is home to White Water Ski Resort, with skies the limit access to most outdoor recreation activities to be enjoyed over four relatively mild seasons.

This small city is able to offer excellent private and public education facilities, which include Selkirk College and the Kootenay School of the Arts.

Nelson is located 663 km (412 miles) from Vancouver, 628 km (390 miles) from Calgary, 237 km (147 miles) from Spokane and 55 km (34 miles) from the U.S. border. There is also scheduled domestic air service from the West Kootenay Regional Airport in Castlegar (30 minutes by road) daily.
