The City of Trail BC is centrally located in the West Kootenay Boundary Region and is situated on the beautiful Columbia River. This affordable, quaint city is the ideal community to settle in, offering exceptional recreational opportunities for both the indoor and out enthusiast.

Trail is the technology and research and development hub of the Kootenay Boundary´s employing a large skill based population as well as housing the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, which is the largest diagnostic and acute care facility in the region. Quality health care and education contribute to the appeal of this city to new residents.

In the late 1800´s the mining boom lead to the construction of a smelter in 1895 that was built to treat the gold, copper and ore coming out of Rossland BC. By 1901 the small town of Trail was incorporated. During World War II production at the smelter was increased to assist with the war effort and has been running successfully since as the Teck Cominco Lead-Zinc Smelter Complex and is the leading employer in Trail today.

Trail is 19 km north of the U.S. border with the closest major city being Kelowna at 309 km to the west. Vancouver is 625 km to the west and Calgary is 656 km to the east. Spokane, Trail´s U.S. neighbour to the south, is 220 km.
